Audit Tab Retirement

What's being done?

GRAX is ending support for the Audit tab and GRAXTimeMachine Visualforce component that can be placed on an individual record page (shows the features of the Audit tab, filtered down to that particular record). These components allow customer to visualize historic versions of their data.

Why is GRAX retiring support for this feature?

GRAX has made extraordinary advances in our architecture and internal storage formats that we leverage to give customers the most effective access to all their historical data, both within Salesforce and to downstream applications for data engineers, BI analysts etc. To that end, we are retiring the Audit tab and Visualforce page, which are based on an older less efficient storage format that GRAX is no longer building new features against. As you'll read below, there are newer and more advanced features that allow you to visualize and analyze the same historical data in a more scalable and effective manner.

How does this impact me?

Customers actively using the Audit tab (or the GRAXTimeMachine Visualforce page on individual record pages) need to reach out to GRAX Support to be upgraded to the latest GRAX version and storage formats.

What's the recommended workaround?

We recommend customers upgrade to the new single record restore component. After GRAX conducts the upgrade and migration, you are able to visualize all historical versions. What's more, this robust time machine-like component allows you to selectively restore one or more individual fields back to a historical point in time. It even respects your end users' field-level security. This new component leverages Salesforce's newest lightning web component technology, which allows for things like multiple components dynamically interacting with each other, for a better end user experience.

If your use case calls for analyzing historical versions in aggregate at scale, History Stream is the best way to do this. After GRAX conducts the upgrade/migration for you, customers can stream every historical version downstream and access/analyze this in the storage/database of their choosing. For example, you could run advanced queries in AWS Redshift to get the exact answers to your business questions. You're no longer locked in to using the Audit tab to access this data; instead you can analyze your business history where ever it's needed.

Timing

GRAX support for this feature ends in the Summer of 2021.
