Search and Visualization Options

There are several ways to visualize and search GRAX data from within Salesforce.

GRAX Search Tab

  1. Click on the tab GRAX
  2. Click on the sub-tab Search
  3. Select the GRAX Table, or Salesforce object, which you want to search on
  4. Select the fields which you would like displayed within your search results
  5. Enter any filter criteria to limit results that are returned
  6. Click Retrieve
  7. Your results will be similar to the below:

Rich Text Fields

Note that Salesforce rich text fields may render as html.

Search Tab Considerations

  • Works in Classic or Lightning
  • This is the default recommended functionality in GRAX to search, view, and recreate.

Salesforce Related List via Salesforce Connect

  • Works in Classic or Lightning
  • Requires Salesforce Connect (licensed separately)
  • Can view external records in Related List section/tab in Salesforce
  • More information on setup available here

GRAX Lightning Connect Related List

  • Requires Lightning (does not work in Classic)
  • Requires custom domain enabled in Salesforce
  • Can view external records in a customizable lightning component

GRAX Visualforce Component for Time Machine

  • Works in Classic or Lightning
  • Can embed on page layout and restore a specific version of the current record

Lightning Utility Item

GRAX offers a lightning utility item that you can add to your lightning app utility bar. This can prove to be an extremely helpful utility for your users in Lightning, who will now be able to search GRAX no matter where they are in Lightning.

In order to set this up, simply go to your App Manager in lightning and add a Visualforce component to the Utility Items. Choose the GRAXSearch Visualforce page.

The utility widget will allow for the same functionality at the GRAX Search tab, with the main difference being that you cannot preview or restore; only search functionality will be enabled.

Note that if you pop-out the utility, it will reset and you will lose your search preferences and results.
